イングランドのチューダー王朝２番目の王ヘンリー８世は、
音楽愛好家であり、スポーツにも秀で、
６人の妻を次々に取り替え、離婚問題でローマ教皇から破門され、
めげずに英国国教会を成立させてしまったタフな王様です。
彼の後を継いだのは、エリザベス１世。
彼女の治世には、スペインの無敵艦隊を破る(1588年)、シェイクスピアの活躍、
イングリッシュ・マドリガルの黄金時代、と
歴史上重要なことがらが多くあります。
